The Linke test seems to focus less on feminism and more on the usage of female identity in Modern Germany. The other texts, on the other hand, seem to be more focused on feminism as a basis for understanding and viewing modern trends.
I dislike the way articles view some of the issues out of context. Linke discusses the Body Worlds exhibit. She mentions in the article that only 2 of the bodies shown are female. However, she only mentions in passing that the bodies used are donated. It might just be few women donated their bodies. Then they might have just opted to display the unique characteristics of the female body with the few they had, and used the surplus of male bodies to demonstrate the characteristics shared by both genders.

Hi Kit,
Thanks for your comments - You make a good point that these are donated bodies (hence, perhaps, there simply weren't enough female bodies to go around, as it were). I hope we'll have time to discuss this in class - if not, we will come back to Body Worlds specifically later in the semester. There are some issues with *how* the female bodies are displayed in contrast to the male (not just the fact *that* there are only 2 displayed, which, as you rightly point out, is not a strong argument when one considers the logistics of body donation...)
One request: Can you format your post to accord with the abstract format? That is:
a) Describe, in 1-3 sentences, what you see as the main argument or overarching theme of the text/s for this week.
b) List at least 3-5 terms you feel are key for understanding the text/s or that are new to you.
c) Formulate a list of comments and questions you have about the text. What did you find especially interesting or thought-provoking? What did you find disconcerting or contestable? What didn't seem entirely clear? What questions did this text leave you asking yourself?
You've got a bit of part A, but please try to list some key terms and then make a list of questions for discussion (and labeling each part a, b, c). (And yet the captain's log format is also very compelling, so I hesitate to cramp your style!) Just make sure you get the basic abstract information and form in there somewhere, if you would please. Thanks!
